Antitesi. Tre Bicchieri again for Avanzi’s Lake Garda rosé.

Cantina Avanzi’s Antitesi 2024 has been awarded Tre Bicchieri in Gambero Rosso’s Vini d’Italia 2027, the top rating in Italy’s most respected wine guide. It is the fourth major Gambero Rosso honour for this rosé in five years.

Tre Bicchieri

For Antitesi 2024, a Valtènesi Riviera del Garda Classico DOC from Cantina Avanzi.

The award

Italy’s top wine honour, again.

Each autumn, Gambero Rosso’s Vini d’Italia guide awards its Tre Bicchieri, or three glasses, to a small selection of the wines it tastes from across Italy. For the 2027 edition, Lombardy received 37, and one of them is Antitesi 2024 from the Avanzi family.

It is not a one-off. Antitesi has now won Tre Bicchieri three times, and in between Gambero Rosso also named it Rosé of the Year. Few Italian rosés have a record like it.

Four Gambero Rosso honours in five years

Antitesi first won Tre Bicchieri with the 2021 vintage, the first time the Avanzi winery had received the award. Since then:

  • Tre Bicchieri 2023 — Antitesi 2021, Avanzi’s first ever.
  • Tre Bicchieri 2024 — Antitesi 2021, again.
  • Rosé of the Year 2025 — a special award from Gambero Rosso, for Antitesi 2023.
  • Tre Bicchieri 2027 — Antitesi 2024, announced this October.

A family on Lake Garda since 1931

The Avanzi family has been making wine in the Valtènesi, the gentle moraine hills on the south-western shore of Lake Garda, since 1931. The lake keeps the climate mild, and pink wine made from the local Groppello grape has long been the area’s speciality.

The family makes two very different rosés from it, and the names explain the idea. Rosavero is the thesis: the classic Valtènesi rosé, made with a single night of skin contact and released a few months after harvest. Antitesi is the antithesis. Groppello and Barbera are vinified two ways, mostly by gentle pressing with a small part on the skins, and the wine then rests on its lees for 270 nights. The result has the roundness, power and complexity to age, while keeping the freshness and pale colour of the lake’s rosés.

Tre Bicchieri 2027 · Rosé

Cantina Avanzi Antitesi Valtènesi Chiaretto DOC

Rosé wine

One of Italy’s most decorated rosés, and a serious wine for the table rather than just a sunny afternoon.

Round, powerful and complex, with graceful softness, pronounced sapidity and real length. Pale in the glass, it has the structure for seafood, cured meats, salads and lighter pasta, and enough depth to sit alongside richer dishes than most rosés can handle.
