Piazzo Comm. Armando
The Piazzo winery was founded in the 1960s in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, a small district of Alba, by newlyweds Armando Piazzo and Gemma Veglia. They invested in the Langhe’s unique terroir at a time when the region was not yet renowned, focusing on Nebbiolo — the varietal that would later produce some of Italy’s most prized wines. When their daughter Marina and her husband Franco joined the family, they brought fresh energy and improvements that culminated in the release of the first Barolo in 1985. Over time, the estate expanded to more than 70 hectares, with vineyards near the winery as well as in Mango, Neviglie, Guarene, and Novello. In 2007, Marina and Franco took over full management of the estate, continuing the family tradition while integrating modern techniques.
