Aglianico del Taburno DOCG

Ocone was founded in Ponte in 1910 and became an important name in Sannio winemaking. During the 1960s and 1970s, the estate renewed its production around Campania’s native varieties, helping give grapes such as Aglianico, Falanghina and Piedirosso a stronger regional identity. A new chapter began in 2018 when Euvitis 21 acquired the historic winery. The cellars and production facilities were subsequently renovated, combining modern technology with Ocone’s established heritage and a clear commitment to the culture of Benevento. The winery stands at the foot of Mount Taburno, with vineyards and partner growers between the Taburno Massif, Matese Mountains and southern Apennines. At 250 metres, the landscape combines alluvial, gravel-rich ground with clay soils suited to white grapes and limestone-rich sites favouring structured reds. Grapes are harvested by hand in crates before vinification in the restored historic cellar. Since 2019, careful water use, wastewater treatment, photovoltaic energy and environmentally conscious methods have formed part of a sustainability programme designed to preserve Sannio’s natural and agricultural heritage.
