Jacob's was founded in 1851 by Quaker brothers William and Robert Jacob in Waterford, Ireland, before moving to Dublin. In 1885 the company introduced the cream cracker, which quickly became a great success.

Its first English factory opened in Aintree, Liverpool, in 1914, and is still the main UK producer of Jacob's crackers. Today Jacob's savoury biscuits, including its cheese biscuits, are a staple of cheeseboards across the UK.
