- Flagship Nebbiolo expression just outside the DOCG zone, reflecting the same clay-rich alluvial soils and microclimate as Ghemme and Gattinara. Offers a slightly more approachable style than Ghemme DOCG, while retaining excellent cellaring potential, combining elegance, richness, and typicity of the terroir.
Description
A flagship expression from Torraccia del Piantavigna, Ramale is crafted from carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes grown in the estate’s finest hillside vineyards in Ghemme, just outside the D.O.C.G. zone but sharing the same clay-rich, alluvial terroir and microclimate as their celebrated Ghemme and Gattinara crus. Aged for a minimum of 24 months in large oak casks, this wine offers a rich, structured, full-bodied profile with elegant tannins and vibrant acidity. Deep ruby-red in colour with garnet hues as it matures, the bouquet reveals ripe red fruits, wild berries, sweet violets, and hints of spice. While designed to be enjoyed slightly younger than Ghemme DOCG, it retains excellent cellaring potential for those seeking complexity with time.
